SFC, MBPJ Collaborate to Upgrade the Field at MBPJ Stadium

After the enforcement of Tightened Controlled Movement Order (TCMO) in the Petaling district was announced to end recently, Selangor FC will now return to play at MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya as their home venue.

Seen as an encouragement for the team after the efforts of field upgrading that have been actively carried out during the league break period, this effort has ensured that the condition of the field at MBPJ Stadium is in a better condition than before.

This effort is a close collaboration between the club and the owner of the facility, the MBPJ (Petaling Jaya City Council) and it is vital in upgrading the condition and quality of the field through the improvement of the drainage system.

The process has been going on since last May and is divided into several stages. Starting with the installation of pipes for the drainage system on each part of the field, it is then followed by a filling up the underground with piles of stones at the bottom and soil according to the appropriate size and proportions to help better drainage. This technique is often used on golf courses and is found to be suitable for application to football fields.

Final stages of these repairs include topdressing, leveling the field surface, lawn care, and fertilizer to ensure the field surface is always in the best condition.

SFC Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon expressed his thanks to MBPJ and hoped that this good effort could further improve the quality of Malaysian football and the image of MBPJ Stadium as the best quality playing field for football.

“SFC would like to thank YB Aznan Hj Hassan, Deputy Secretary of Petaling Jaya City Council for his willingness to work together in upgrading the field at this stadium. We believe this effort will be able to help improve the quality of the team's performance, as well as the quality of our league," explained Dr. Johan.

YB Aznan also expressed the same tone with Dr. Johan, "Our mission as the City Council is to always ensure that the facilities and amenities under our responsibility are in the best condition for the use of the local community. So, when Selangor FC suggested working with MBPJ to upgrade the field, we saw this as positive and beneficial cooperation for both parties. ”

Since the MBPJ Stadium was named as the host venue of Selangor FC for the 2021 season, SFC has carried out several renovations and upgrades of several facilities around the stadium such as the players' locker room and kiosk for SFC food and beverage sales, known as FAS Food.

Selangor FC previously announced that the team will play at the Cheras Stadium due to the Tightened Movement Control Order which was enforced throughout the state of Selangor now has been confirmed to receive approval from Malaysian Football League (MFL) to resume the remaining 2021 Super League matches in MBPJ Stadium.
